We work closely together with Total Car Rental who have offices around Bonaire, including one for collection and return at the airport.
Although some flights arrive in the early hours, if you have arranged collection from the airport, the TOTAL will have your vehicle ready for collection.
There is shuttle bus that takes visitors the 200 metres (!) from the Flamingo Airport terminal to the TOTAL Car Rental office. The terminal is small and you will have no trouble seeing the bus. Directions to your resort are on your voucher, and the vehicle will have a map. But you won't get lost on Bonaire !

We recommend hiring a vehicle to enjoy the shore diving, exploring the island and various other activities. Hiring is not expensive. Vehicles can be collected and returned to Flamingo Airport. If you prefer a transfer to your accommodation, the hire company will arrange to meet you there and take you to collect your vehicle. This takes just a few minutes.
Driving is easy on Bonaire. No one is in a hurry. Nowhere is very far ! Everyone takes it easy. Be careful at THE roundabout, traffic joining from the right has priority. The double pick ups we (usually) use have a double, air conditioned cab which seats 5 people comfortably, and the kit can go in the rear section of the pick up. The high wheel base make them perfect for parking on coral/sand beaches. The only vehicles allowed in the Slagbaai National Park are 4X4 s . It's quite a ride !
On other shore dive sites, you can pull into parking spaces and walk the 50 metres to the ocean. On Bonaire, you are never more than 15 minutes from your resort or 5 minutes from the ocean.

Shore diving sites are marked by yellow "milestone" markers along the side of the road. Drive along the coast road, armed with our dive guide, and spot the yellow markers, with the dive site name and site number on them. Often you can drive onto the beach, and park within a few metres of the ocean. Sit on the tailgate, put your tanks on and walk the 10 metres to the ocean. It is as easy as that ! See the picture on page 9 of our brochure.

The (few) road signs are international symbols, but the most common sign is Dutch "overstekende ezels" – "Donkeys crossing". Donkeys roam free and sometimes block the road and demand food Our vehicle hire price includes insurance cover. Prices on websites do not include insurance.
